There are traditionally seven different lengths of necklaces.
| 25cm - 32.5 cm | Fit closely around the neck |
| 40cm - 45 cm | Fairly close to the neck - attached pendants lie above the breastbone |
| 42.5cm - 50 cm | Generally meet at top of breastbone |
| 50cm - 60 cm | Generally meet at the top of the bust line |
| 70cm - 80 cm | Will hang at or below the bust line and can be worn as a doubled strand |
| 100 - 120 cm | Can hang at or below the navel - often worn either doubled or tripled |
| 120 cm and longer | Often used for long strands, wrapped or knotted around the neck without a clasp |
